Listen to the audio clip from Number the Stars.

Print the Unit Introduction worksheet. Visit the following websites and answer the following questions on the worksheet.

• What was The Holocaust?

• Who were its victims?

• Who was Hitler?

• Who were the Nazis and Gestapo?

• Who/what was The Resistance?

Each member of your team will select a role. (If more than one person wants the same role, each will roll a die - whomever rolls a 6 or closest to it is chosen. For a tie, each rolls again.)

Each team will create ONE project from the following:

• Create a map of Europe in 1941

• Create a video documentary

• Create a newspaper
